Our Untold Arctic Wars war documentary series has been chosen as one of the finalists in this year’s Berlin International TV Series Festival in the documentary series category. The festival, held in the end of June, gathers leading tv producers who present their work in a contest juried by renowned international professionals.

This is the first time our production is acknowledged in an international and prestigious event. Making it to the final is in itself a significant victory for us. It is also important to us as professionals – we’ve proved that content originating and produced in the north can find its way to the international market.

Untold Arctic Wars aired on Finnish Yle in the beginning of 2022. The series was sold to the Walt Disney Company before it was even finished. In addition to the Nordic countries, the series will air in the Benelux and on the Chinese iQIYI platform reaching over 500 million monthly viewers. The second season of the series has been agreed on with the Nordic broadcasting companies and pre-production has started.

 

Earlier this week, NTRNZ media received the City of Oulu’s Export Company of the Year award. Read more (in Finnish).

New production company founded in Northern Norway together with top professionals

 

We’ve recently also taken a concrete step outside Finland. NTRNZ media Ltd is a shareholder in a new production company focusing on content production in the northern area. The company brings together highly experienced professionals in international TV production and formats. The shareholders come from Norway, Finland and Great Britain.

The new company will develop international content and formats produced in the arctic area. We’ll share more details later.

The company’s headquarters will be at the FilmCamp near Tromsø, where successful films like Rare Exports and The 12th Man were filmed. Shareholders in addition to NTRNZ media are Ken Skaarbrevik’s Kickoff TV Production Ltd from London, Lasse Hallberg, producer of Lilyhammer which became the first original series on Netflix, from Oslo, and Kjetil Jensberg from FilmCamp.

The amount of experience between the founders is huge. We’re aiming at creating an arctic content production hub where several productions would take place in Northern Finland and Northern Norway.

NTRNZ media is best known for the four-time Golden Venla award-winner Eränkävijät TV series, its international version Love of the Wild, and the Untold Arctic Wars documentary series. In 2022, NTRNZ media is an Agency of the Year 2022 finalist and also a Golden Venla finalist for the 12th time.

 

 

Untold Arctic Wars is a Yle Original series produced by NTRNZ media. The first season focuses on the events of World War II from an arctic perspective. The series has been sold to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, China and the National Geographic channel in the Benelux countries, and it is distributed by TVF international. The filming of the second season starts in the summer of 2022.
